Hiding The  Regrowth "Sparkles"

As we all know, once we hit the stages of Grays peaking out, we just have to make a quick stop at the local drug store. I am hear to offer the Hocus-Pocus Spell for Gray Regrowth! As you'll come to find out, OMBRES are NOT oNLY for your Teenage Daughter!!

Natural Golden Blonde Ombre w/toned highlight

After time and time again of creating color designs for my mother's hair, we finally found something that works for those icky regrowth of grays or as I like to call them "SPARKLES". I wanted something that was gonna keep her looking "Hip" but still within her age. We have gone from  Burgundy, to cinnamon blonde, to golden blonde w/thin highlights, to finally Natural Golden Blonde Ombre w/toned highlights to blend right in with the "Sparkles"!

1st color Attempt: Burgundy

Color Correction #2: Golden Blonde w/thin Highlights
Now to share the secret with all of you! When choosing A haircolor to keep up the fast growing grays, just keep with a Lighter hair color and Platinum Highlights. Keeping hair light will insure a blend if there is 50%+ gray coverage. My mother is about 80% gray coverage keeping her slightly at "Salt & Pepper" hair. Seldom do I hear women at the age of 50 say, "I just wanna go All Natur-AL!" My mother is NOT one of those women, and also categorized in the "I have no clue what I want for my hair" ISLE! So after several Color Correction appointments, I decided to jump out of the ordinary box and give her a custom color.

In keeping faithful to my Beauty School Culture, I used Paul Mitchell's Color Line.
  1. The Color - 1/2oz 7N & 1oz 8G I wanted little to none Brassy Tones and 7N is just right for that. 8G to add in the Golden tone and keep a touch of warmth.
  2. Dual Purpose Lightener - In creating the ombre I went with DPL W/10 volume. Her hair had already gone through a few lightening processes before, so I wanted to keep the integrity of it and not damage the ends.
  3. PM Shines - I use 1/2 oz 9NB with 1/2 6BV. This step added shine, hydration, adding back any amino acids that were lost during lifting, and toning platinum to the lightest golden blonde while illuminating brassiness to blend well with new growth of gray!
Now, note that when working with professional color it pretty much all works the same color theory, but every Color Line is different! Meaning some color lines may have more or less pigments in them than others. I love Paul Mitchell Color cause it gives me an exact consistency every time.

And there you have it! If any questions at all please leave a comment and I will gladly answer any questions!! Hope this has helped and you have a Happy Hair Day!
